Vanessa Compton is pretty cool. Not only is she a badass climber chick, but an amazing artist as we all saw this year during Burlington’s Annual Art hop. Her principle medium is collage, and by looking at her work (see Hueco’s Ark below) you can easily see what the compilation of a climbing and artistic passion can create. She’s also got an extensive musical side. Vanessa studied palm wine guitar in Ghana, and kora, a West African harp/lute when she spent a semester in Senegal, grew up playing cello, recorder, guitar and piano, influenced by her singer/songwriter father and artist mother. So in short, you should definitely check out some of her upcoming events:
Petra Cliffs Climbing and Mountaineering Center will continue to show her artwork until early November including collages, prints, cards and original tanks that she’s got for sale.
From October 6-7 Vanessa will be partcipationg in VT Open Studio Weekend at her studio in Greensboro. Stop by from 10am-5pm both days to get a look at her work.
Studio Place Arts in Barre, VT will be featuring 11 of her large-scale collages in their November 3rd exhibit called Kingdoms in the Sky.
