Hey there all you East Coasters, the Mount Washington Valley Icefest, the hugest ice extravaganza this neck of the woods, turns 20 this year, February 1st to 3rd. This year’s lineup of speakers, guest guides, and demo gear is better than ever. Try tools, rope and gear from brands like Outdoor Research, Sterling Rope, La Sportiva, Lowa, Patagonia, Mammut, and more!
The American Alpine Club’s Silent Auction Night benefits the Live Your Dream Grant, and kicks off the weekend with Renan Ozturk and Freddie Wilkinson’s presentation on the Alaska’s impressive Tooth Traverse. Scrappy Brit Nick Bullock will talk about his crazy, bold mixed climbs in Scotland, France, and Canada!
Josh Wharton will present on his impressive sends in the Canadian Rockies, including the first one-day ascent of the legendary Wild Thing and mount Robson’s Emperor Face. And Kyle Dempster will send us off with a rousing slideshow on his groundbreaking ascents in the Himalayas.
The Ice Fest, as always, is hosted by the International Mountain Climbing School. This year they’ve pulled out all the stops to offer an amazing roster of guest guides, including Wharton, Wilkinson, local favorites Kevin Mahoney, Bayard Russell, Mark Synnott, Chamoniards Adam and Caroline George, hardwomen Majka Burhardt and Emilie Drinkwater, and dozens of others. All skill levels, from newbie ice to advanced mixed climbing, will be covered.
