Outdoor Research has put together a great short video, Classics, about some of the iconic ice climbs in North Conway, NH. North Conway has long been regarded as one of the North East’s ice climbing Meccas, and Classics does a perfect job of showing just why that is. The video follows Emilie Drinkwater, Bayard Russell and Sarah Garlick as they tackle some the area’s notable climbs. The team discusses how many of these routes have been climbed for the past few decades, and their hopes that they will continue to be climbed for many more to come. The video features great climbers taking on some beautiful (keep an eye out for the particularly scenic Dropzone) and timeless routes, what more could you ask for?

The guys and gals over at Petzl have put up a nice little tutorial video, showing us all how to keep those screws in tip-top condition during climbing season. As the winter wears on, despite the unfortunate lack of cold for most, so do our screws. The Petzl crew does a great job of keeping things nice and simple for those of us who aren’t necessarily the most gear savvy, making the tutorial very accessible for all. Keep those screws sharp, it’s one of the best ways to keep you safe out on the ice!

We’ve got a great video of the one and only Reinhold Messner speaking at the Outdoor Retailer show in Salt Lake City, Utah from earlier this year. The audience had the thrill of being able to listen to Messner in a question and answer format, surely a once in a lifetime experience. Messner discusses his views on the recent conflict regarding Cerro Torre, the role that adventurers should play in conservation, and his views on alpine style as opposed to what he refers to as “piste alpinism”. All in all, it is a very interesting conversation and a great chance to see into the mind of one of the world’s greatest mountaineers.

“If you’re looking for a pure action video, this is not what this is. This is more of a ‘video illustrated interview’.” This quote does a solid job of summing La Obsesion, a new film documenting the great climber Dani Andrada. This film not only shows Dani sending some sweet climbs, but also more importantly attempts to get inside his head, and show how he feels about the various aspects of climbing. Dani talks about his views and climbing, as well as his fascination with bolting. La Obsesion is a thought provoking film, but if you’re not trying to think the amazing shots will yield more than enough pleasure.

Louder than 11 has been providing the climbing community with great videos and articles for ages, and now their long awaited 2012 Men of Route Setting Calendar. The calendar features a smorgasbord of route setters in some very skimpy undergarments. Other than being a source of constant amusement, by downloading the calendar (for only 3 dollars) your payment is entirely donated to the Access Fund. So basically, for your small donations you get to stare at some studly route setters and help the Access Fund protect America’s climbing areas, sounds like a win-win in our book.
