Petra Cliffs Climbing Center has decide to keep their winter hours all summer long! The gym will remain open from 10am-10pm Monday through Friday, 10am-8pm Saturdays and 10am to 6pm Sundays so when the rock outside gets too gross and sweaty you can come inside the gym and pull on some nice slick plastic. Plus the smell of all those dudes climbing inside during the summer is sure to be uber pleasant.  They’ve also got some sweet membership deals going on, including 3-month deals and an EFT special. Climbing in Connecticut…what? As a native Connecticut-er I find this statement strange, but hey, Ty Landman put up a V14 somewhere in the woods there, so I guess there’s something. I heard rumors of boulders in Greenwich…friggin yuppies probably wouldn’t let us climb anyway. BUT heres a sweet video of some dudes climbing in CT. If only they would tell us where they are! Slacklining is a comp sport now, whaaattt?? Sweet. the Teva Mountain Games just hosted their first slack comp sponsored by Gibbon Slacklines, and damn did it look pretty cool. The comp style was set up with qualifiers, quarter, semi-finals, and finals. the competition format? Bracket style baby, each competitor gets two minutes to blow the judges…minds. They’re graded on difficulty, creativity and performance.Top Prize? 1,250 dolla dolla billz yo. But seriously. This sport is taking off, check out this vid from the Gibbon Games.

Check out these vids from the crack masters Tom Randall and Pete Whittaker over at Wild Country. They’re put together six short videos on crack climbing to teach you all the basics, everything from hands and fingers to chicken wings and scumming is in there. They’ll also give you some killer  gear placement tips. These vids are meant for those of us who aren’t used to crack, but lifers might find the basics helpful as well if not just an ego boost.
