Check Out The 2012 Catskill Ice Festival!

We’re super lucky in the Northeast to have ice climbing festivals in most of the major areas this time of year. They bring together the climbing community, introduce new folks to the sport, and are an all around shindig. This weekend brings us the 14th annual Catskill Ice Festival. Presented by Alpine Endeavors and Rock and Snow, we’ve gone the past couple years and had a blast. This year, the activities will take place Friday through Monday, and include slide shows, clinics for all skill levels, and lots of opportunities to demo some new gear.

Other sponsors for the weekend include La Sportiva, Rab, Petzl, Black Diamond, Outdoor Research and the Catskill Center for Conservation and Development. Clinics include basic ice climbing, drytooling, glacier travel and crevasse rescue. You can register online with Alpine Endeavors or by swinging by Rock and Snow in New Paltz.

Full schedule for the Catskill Ice Fest is below. For more information, go to www.alpineendeavors.com. Enjoy those cold temps while they last!
