The weekend’s carnage is slowly getting cleaned up after a packed house during the Will Gadd slide show and drytooling comp during the Mount Washington Valley Ice Fest, Daniel Woods and Francesca Metcalf win the Dark Horse Bouldering Series Comp and Andy Lewis, aka Sketchy Andy, made a slacklining appearance during the Super Bowl halftime show! Mr. D. Woods showing off his [...]

Ice season just keeps rolling along here in the Northeast. After the Smuggs Ice Bash this past weekend, the festivities now move up to North Conway, New Hampshire for the Mount Washington Valley Ice Festival. It was started 18 years ago by climbing powerhouse Rick Wilcox, who has been a member of countless big climbs including leading an expedition to [...]

First off, we want to congratulate Jake List and Andrea Charest for killing it by taking first place in the 2nd Annual Smugglers Notch Drytooling Competition. We also want to give a big shout out to Petra Cliffs and Bert Severin, with Sunrise Adventure Sports, for putting a ton of hard work into staging such an awesome event. Thanks to the [...]

We will. Thanks in part to this ridiculous video from Louder Than 11. On February 4, MetroRock (Everett, MA) will be hosting the Dark Horse Bouldering Series grand finale. Things will kick off with a citizen’s comp before the best boulderers in the region take over and pull plastic like it’s 1999. Can’t wait to see all you crazy cats [...]

We’re getting psyched for another epic weekend here in Vermont! Sunrise Adventure Sports, Alpinist, NEice, and yours truly Climberism are sponsoring the 6th annual Smuggs Ice Bash from Friday to Sunday, January 27-29. We’re super lucky in the Northeast to have ice climbing festivals in most of the major areas this time of year. They bring together the climbing community, introduce new folks to the sport, and are an all around shindig. This weekend brings us the 14th annual Catskill Ice Festival. Presented by Alpine Endeavors and Rock and Snow, we’ve gone the [...]

“We can’t walk? OK, we’ll climb ice instead!” reads the first line of Paradox Sports‘ press release announcing their upcoming ice climbing weekend in North Conway, New Hampshire. Our friend Timmy O’Neill gave us a heads up about this incredible event, and we need your help to spread the word! From February 10-12 in North Conway, Paradox will be providing [...]

It’s that time of the year to pack up your RV (or Mazda Miata) and take to the road for some seriously awesome ice climbing festivals throughout the Northeast. While the weather hasn’t cooperated for solid and consistent ice just yet, the colder temps are finally here in northern New England. Coming up next weekend is the 16th Annual Adirondack [...]

In 2008, rescue equipment was stolen from the Mohonk Preserve, an organization with roots dating back to 1869, whose mission is to protect and preserve the Shawangunk Mountains. Alpine Endeavors, a local guiding company, held an auction on eBay that year and generated over $900 to go toward the stolen gear. This year, they continue the tradition, and are auctioning [...]

Our friends at Climb Nova Scotia will be holding their annual Columbus Wall clean up (and maybe climb) day this Saturday, December 17. The crag, located in Musquodoboit Harbor outside of Halifax, has lots of variety: sport, trad and mixed from 5.6 on up to 5.11. There are some downed trees that need to be removed and routes that need to be [...]
